War Memorial Park

The War Memorial Park in Martinsburg, West Virginia, has plenty to offer. Its combination of features make it one of the most popular parks in Berkley County.

Located at 500 North Tennessee Avenue, the War Memorial Park spans roughly 20 acres. It became a park in 1947, and since 1987, the Martinsburg-Berkley County Parks and Recreation Board has maintained it. The park is open to visitors from dawn until dusk throughout the year.

Facilities

The War Memorial Park features many facilities, including a large outdoor pool. The pools operating hours are 12:00 to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday, 12:00 to 6:00 PM on Saturday, and 1:00 to 6:00 PM on Sunday. For people ages 3 and up, admission costs $5.00. Children ages 2 and under get in free with a paying adult. Children aged 10 or younger need to be accompanied by someone 16 or older. During the summer, Parks and Recreation  provides swimming lessons.

The park’s pavilions are another notable feature. There are six of them, and for a fee, visitors can rent them for events. Reservations can be made at the park’s administrative office or online.

Additionally, the park features two tennis courts, two sand volleyball courts, and a miniature golf course along with four playground areas. Also at the park are four playground areas, picnic areas, and a concession stand. Parking areas and restrooms are available as well.

Events at the Park

The park hosts several events throughout the year, particularly in the warmer months. For example, the June Jubilee is a day-long celebration that features vendors, entertainment for children, and a car show. On Thursdays in June through August, the Toni Saylor Summer Concert Series brings live music to the park. War Memorial Park is also host to breakfast events on Labor Day and Memorial Day.
